NEW YORK — Bank of America is launching a major financing initiative that could mobilize up to $250 billion for U.S. infrastructure projects through July 2027, targeting sectors increasingly important to the American economy.

The bank's new Critical Infrastructure Finance Initiative will provide lending, investment, capital-markets services and advisory support for projects involving artificial intelligence, data centers, energy, digital infrastructure, transportation and utilities.

The initiative comes as demand for AI computing continues to drive massive investment in data centers and electricity infrastructure. Companies building AI facilities require substantial supplies of power, water, networking equipment and other supporting infrastructure.

Bank of America said the program could help generate tens of thousands of jobs while supporting projects through both public and private markets.

The move also reflects a broader shift among major financial institutions toward financing strategic infrastructure. Other large banks have announced significant initiatives focused on AI, energy and U.S. economic competitiveness.

For American businesses, increased infrastructure investment could create opportunities across construction, energy, semiconductor manufacturing, data centers and technology services.

Bank of America's $250 billion commitment underscores how AI expansion is increasingly becoming an infrastructure and investment story—not just a technology story.
