Canadian artificial intelligence company Cohere is moving to acquire AISLE, a San Francisco-based AI cybersecurity startup, in a deal aimed at strengthening its software security and enterprise AI capabilities.
Cohere announced on Thursday that it had signed a letter of intent to acquire AISLE. Financial terms were not disclosed, and the transaction has not been described as completed.
Founded in 2025, AISLE uses artificial intelligence to identify software vulnerabilities. The startup says its technology has identified more than 500 bugs in widely used software, including vulnerabilities in OpenSSL, a technology used to secure internet communications.
The proposed acquisition would strengthen Cohere’s security tools for enterprise and public-sector customers. AISLE also has an engineering hub in Prague, potentially expanding Cohere’s European technology footprint.
The deal highlights the growing role of AI in cybersecurity, as organizations seek faster ways to detect software flaws while increasingly capable AI systems also create new security challenges.
For businesses handling sensitive data, AI-powered vulnerability detection could become an increasingly important part of protecting applications, cloud infrastructure and digital services.
