U.S. Representative Dan Goldman has spoken out after a Brooklyn coffee shop publicly announced it would no longer serve him, citing disagreements over his stance on Israel and the ongoing war in Gaza.

The controversy began when Poetica Coffee shared a now-deleted social media post featuring a photo of Goldman and a refunded receipt from his visit to the shop. The post criticized the congressman’s political positions and referenced his past support from pro-Israel advocacy groups.

Speaking with CNN, Goldman described his interaction at the coffee shop as positive and respectful. He recalled that a barista had been kind to him and his daughter during their visit, prompting him to purchase a coffee and leave a generous tip.

The incident quickly gained attention online, becoming part of a broader debate surrounding the Israel-Gaza conflict and its impact on local politics. Goldman is currently facing a competitive Democratic primary challenge, with critics highlighting his views on Israel and his support from pro-Israel organizations.

Goldman rejected accusations that his political positions are dictated by outside groups and argued that support for Israel does not mean unconditional support for every action taken by the Israeli government. He reiterated that he has publicly criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on several occasions while continuing to support Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state.
