Google and Constellation Energy have announced a landmark 20-year nuclear power agreement, highlighting the growing race among U.S. technology companies to secure reliable electricity for rapidly expanding artificial-intelligence data centers.
Under the agreement, Google will purchase 3,590 megawatts of nuclear power from Constellation. The deal is expected to support about $4.3 billion in new investment and create roughly 7,200 construction jobs, according to reporting on the agreement.
The announcement sent Constellation shares sharply higher, with the stock gaining about 12% as investors welcomed the deal. The agreement also reflects a broader shift in the U.S. business sector, where major technology companies are increasingly looking toward nuclear energy to meet the enormous electricity requirements of AI infrastructure.
The deal comes as U.S. markets remain at record levels, with investors closely watching corporate earnings and continued AI-related spending. Energy infrastructure is increasingly becoming a critical part of America's AI economy, creating new opportunities for utilities, construction companies and energy suppliers.
