A former Arizona Democratic congressional candidate has been arrested after allegedly forcing entry into an ex-partner's home while carrying a knife and tape, according to court documents released by Phoenix police.

The incident reportedly occurred on July 10 when the victim answered a knock at her door, believing it was her son. Instead, she allegedly encountered her former partner, Brianna Westbrook, who was holding a knife and black tape. Authorities say a struggle followed before the victim was pushed onto a couch and ordered not to move.

According to investigators, the victim began screaming, prompting her sister to enter the room. Court records allege that Westbrook then made a threatening movement toward both women while still holding the knife before fleeing the residence after the victim pleaded for the confrontation to stop.

Police later located Westbrook at a separate residence. During questioning, Westbrook reportedly described the incident as a misunderstanding, claiming the visit was part of a mutually agreed role-playing scenario involving BDSM. According to court documents, Westbrook said the alleged plan had been communicated through what were described as "subliminal messages" exchanged on Instagram.

The alleged victim denied consenting to any such arrangement, and investigators proceeded with the case based on witness statements and evidence collected during the investigation.

Westbrook has been charged with felony third-degree burglary, aggravated assault involving a simulated deadly weapon, and misdemeanor disorderly conduct. Court records also indicate that investigators noted a reported history of domestic violence incidents, which they said had increased in frequency and severity.

The case remains under investigation, and the charges are allegations. Westbrook is entitled to the presumption of innocence unless and until proven guilty in court.
