NEW YORK — September 1, 2026 — The Metropolitan Museum of Art has canceled its planned 2027 Costume Institute exhibition honoring fashion designer John Galliano, ending a major cultural project that had generated growing criticism from Jewish community leaders and others.

The exhibition, titled “John Galliano: Horizons,” was scheduled to open alongside the 2027 Met Gala and would have placed Galliano's career at the center of one of America's most influential fashion and cultural events. The museum said a replacement exhibition will be announced later.
